About Us
Bayer in Ireland
|
Bayer in Ireland is part of the global concern Bayer AG, based in Leverkusen, Germany, with 109,000 employees worldwide and a yearly turnover of more than 33 billion Euros across its three main business areas - HealthCare, MaterialScience and CropScience.
In Europe, where 44% of the company's turnover resides, the UK/Ireland region is placed fifth with over 1billion Euros in sales, 1,380 employees and three main operating companies, whose activities mirror Bayer's operations globally.
Bayer has been trading in the UK/Ireland region since Friedrich Bayer first sold his dyestuffs here in 1871. Early business was handled through the offices of engineering company JM Steel, then through Bayer's own operations, based in Manchester, then Surrey and, latterly, in Newbury, Berkshire as well as Dublin in Eire.
Bayer focuses strongly on the key goals of improving profit performance and cost efficiency, leading to top line growth and, ultimately, added value for all its stakeholders - customers, suppliers, shareholders, employees and its local communities.
The company has CropScience production units in the UK/Ireland region, making it a major exporter. There are also importers, distributors and sales and marketing specialists.
Since its establishment in Ireland some 40 years ago, Bayer has been active in the businesses of MaterialScience, CropScience, HealthCare (and, until its divestiture in 2005, chemicals). The business has grown steadily, with good customer connections in strategic areas.
Bayer Ireland has seen many changes, including the integration of Aventis and Roche. With the global acquisition by Bayer of Schering AG, the integration of Schering's interests brings an exciting new era for Bayer in Ireland, with prestigious new offices in the city of Dublin.
Value based on value
We aim to increase value for the benefit of all our stakeholders in every country and community in which we operate.
- Innovation is the foundation for our competitiveness and growth.
- Our employees use their talents to shape the future of the company.
- We believe in our responsibility to contribute to sustainable development.
Science for a Better Life
Bayer has over 10,000 products, found in virtually every area of human activity. One thing they all have in common is that they are derived from, or related to chemistry. Another characteristic is that many of them are unrecognisable to the man in the street, as they are often raw materials that go to make a consumer product. There are well known exceptions, such as Alka Seltzer, Berocca, Baby Bio and Levitra, which enjoy a high profile.
The company is equally proud to be associated with some of the region's - indeed the world's - biggest brands, which use Bayer's materials in the manufacture of their own world-beating products.
